User experience science: Why are WordPress and Linkedin blue?

“This button should be blue”, “This color is not going with the theme”, “I want my site to look classy and minimalistic”. These are few comments that I keep listening from brands.  Mark Zuck says, “Blue is the richest color for me; I can see all of blue.”

Choosing right colours while designing a brand identity(apps, website, marketing) is one of major showstopper for any company. Should I go with minimalistic 2-4 colours or lot of funky colours to gain extra user attention on my website? Here are few colour palettes from some of famous brands in world. RED-energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love

ORANGE- enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation

BLUE- trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven.

BLACK- power, elegance, formality, death, evil, and mystery
